Bournemouth Borough Council

Early in 2019 Bournemouth Borough Council awarded ECR the contract to provide a unique, mobile MPoS solution enabling sales and payments for the busy seafront. Over the following eight weeks ECR developed a unique ticketing system encompassing online, onsite and mobile EPoS & MPoS.

Traditionally visitors to the popular resort had fewer options for purchasing and paying for tickets across the huge variety of attractions. Offering a full range of services, from Land Train rides to car parking, and including  deck chairs, beach huts, chair lifts, food and beverage sales, mini-golf, wind break hire and fishing off the pier it was apparent that the solution needed to be high performing and reliable, entirely mobile, and fully integrated giving head office users a real time view of activity on the ground.

Equally important was the need for the system to take online and offline payments as, even though the area has excellent mobile network coverage, when upwards of 500,000 visitors reach the seafront at peak times, connectivity can be unreliable.

ECR were delighted to design and develop the latest version of the company’s unique TicketPoS solution. Developed by our highly skilled team in Vietnam, Bournemouth were the first clients to implement the latest generation software running on the exclusive Go2 handheld all-in-one terminals.

‘’ECR have made our day to day operations so much more simple’’

Designed for portability and long shifts onstreet and on the move, the Go2 was also designed and manufactured by ECR. With over 7000 terminals in live deployment worldwide, Bournemouth Borough Council had confidence that the devices would deliver on reliability and durability even under the most demanding conditions.

The system was developed in a short timescale, within budget and to the unique requirements of Bournemouth Council in time for the start of the 2019 holiday season. Currently operating with 32 mobile devices, the system has been extremely well received by users on the ground and at head office. As a result, it has since been extended and continues to deliver extensive benefits to both the Council and to the high volume of visitors to the town alike.

TicketPoS is a cloud-based solution comprising front office sales, comprehensive back office and extensive tailored reporting, and full support from ECR’s head office in Kings Langley. The system offers upselling prompts, upgrades, offers and discounts and a wide variety of features designed for both customer satisfaction and revenue generation. Since deployment, the client has invited ECR to expand the system’s capabilities and together we have now produced an online booking portal for the popular Smuggler’s Cove attraction. TicketPoS manages timed and capacity-managed bookings, giving customers full control from their own device, mobile phone or computer. With inbuilt anti-fraud technology, dynamic QR codes and accepting all payment types, visitors can plan their visit and guarantee entry upon arrival, beating the queues and getting the best prices guaranteed.

As part of our continued partnership, we continue to work with Bournemouth Borough Council to identify new opportunities and products to support sales growth and customer service, adding value to the company and to visitors alike.

‘’ECR have allowed us to have a complex system but it’s still easy to use’’
